Wow, 199 is in del norte….and even if it was humboldt it doesnt mean they grow weed and drive fast….most growers drive very carefully in an attempt to safely get where theyre going. All that should really matter is that these people are ok.

Good points but what else should matter is that speeding accidents are 100% avoidable and that jackass drivers endanger non-suicidal drivers on the road. All this oh-boo-hoo-hoo crap for deliberate bad driving is tiresome. Lets other bad drivers deny responsibility.

big statement calling the driver an arrogant speeding asshole when you don’t know anything about what actually happened, Driver was going the speed limit, which is posted expecting optimal driving conditions. between needing new tires and a wet road that was all it took for the crash, not driving like an arrogant asshole. The article is inaccurate and I know because I was one of the passengers, Im just glad were all alive though, pray for the people that passed don’t put down the people that got lucky.

Gnarly Harley. Lucky they didn’t go two more feet or they would be dead just like the past 3 victims in the last few months. Caltrans needs to put a guardrail there.

So instead of going off of the roadway, the guardrail sends the car into oncoming traffic. Nice fix. Just slow down.

Put a guardrail there? So instead of going down the embankment, an out of control vehicle gets directed into the opposite lane where it could crash head-on into a vehicle being driven in a safe manner?

What happened with the car that was shown submerged after a wreck along 199 a couple of weeks ago? Did not hear a follow-up did they pull it, were people inside, etc…?

I live here. We have had 3 fatalities since the beginning of the year and I believe 4 or 5 cars in the river. These three had minor to moderate injuries and got out on their own. The young girl last week was not that fortunate her family is burying her. The two men at the beginning of the year spent 2 months in the river before the river came down enough for it to be safe for the rescue team. There is nothing wrong with the road. Inattentiveness, alcohol, drugs, distration, heck looking at the river and mostly driving to fast for the conditions is the biggest factor. All of these accidents have been in the same stretch of highway. Please have some sympathy for the grieving families thats all I ask. Havent these folks paid the price? 🙁
