[Open!] Roadwork Causes Lane Closure on Broadway
Eureka Police are warning, “The #2 lane of northbound 101/Broadway between Wabash and 15th St. Traffic will be reduced to 1 lane northbound for approximately 1 block till late afternoon and will cause delays. Use of alternate routes is recommended.”
Brett Gronemeyer sent in these photos of the traffic getting a bit nasty as of 12:15 p.m. According to him, “Right now only the one northbound lane is affected. Traffic is only backed up to Hawthorne at this time.”

The City of Eureka* is performing emergency utility work along U.S. Highway 101 between Wabash Ave. and 15th Street in Eureka. A broken water main is causing water to back up onto Broadway.
Northbound U.S. Highway 101 is being reduced to one lane at the corner of Wabash and Broadway. The lane closure is expected to last until 6 p.m. tonight, and traffic may be congested as far back as the Bayshore Mall. Local roads may see higher traffic volumes as motorists detour around the congestion.
UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: The cones are cleared and the road is open.
