Daughter and Deputy Stop Suicide Attempt

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

This is the old one

On Friday, April 15, 2016 at about 3:37 p.m., a Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff responded to West Coast Rd, in Redway, for a report of a possible suicide. The reporting party stated she returned to the residence and found her mother hanging from the bedroom doorknob by a rope. The deputy responded and located the 65 year old female victim lying on the floor inside the doorway of a bedroom with the rope around her neck. The deputy removed the rope from the victim’s neck and a pulse could not be found. Life-saving efforts were made by the deputy with assistance from the victim’s daughter. The deputy continued CPR for approximately 10 minutes until he was relieved by medical personnel.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she regained a pulse and was transported to an out of area hospital for further treatment.

Due to the fortunate and timely response of the daughter, and the deputy’s rapid response, the life-saving effort that was performed assisted in the victim’s second chance at life.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

The last suicide I’m aware of was resuscitated and charged with attempted murder. So we learned from that experience not to interfere with another person’s program…
Rough on daughter, no lie, and I hope this “rescue” turns out better than that. Good Luck. af
