I was in Laytonville today until 4:00 PM. I had a conversation with my cousin about how many earthquakes that the fireplace chimney on my grandmothers house had been through. Now it’s been through one more.
How long do you think it will take for the Cascadia to rip?
Suzy
No, that was the Chimney of Ray and Rose Wilson, the parents of Lee Wilson. Maybe you knew him.
My grandmother Ruby Branscomb’s house is the derelict old house directly accross from the Chief Drive Inn, with great lialac hedge.
See you at the Kate Wolf.

No doubt California will experience a 6 or 7+ earthquake in the next 5 years. But as you know, it’s a damn big state, and there’s plenty of seismic hot spots up and down the state. We won’t be joking, then.

Since we all live on or near fault lines and the Cascadian Subduction zone is long over due for a huge/mega quake, it behooves folks to have a plan in place on how you will respond whether you are at work, school, on the highway or at home.
Keep a Go Bag in your rig, at work and school and outside of your dwelling.
There are tons of sites on the internet that can guide you in what to store and how to be prepared.
Be sure to keep in mind the needs of small infants/children, the frail and elderly or folks on RX medications and life support medical devices.
And have a reunion plan on where and how to meet up after a disaster.
Keeping your cell phone charged does help and texting will go through in times when the network is overloaded or shut down for emergency services use.
Have situational awareness.
If you are picking up your children from school after a disaster have Photo I.D. if the school staff does not recognize you. And keep your contact information with the school up to date including who is authorized to pick up your children.
A thumb drive can store scanned legal/vital documents/insurance information/household inventory/photos.
May all be kept safe and be ready for the inevitable.

I know…I’m kinda worried about all those greenhouses in the hills. Think they could withstand the massive shake?
Was there a Tsunami Alert?
Yes pack up and go, quickly as possible. Good luck.
Joke?
Yuk?
