Multi-car Accident North of Fortuna Yesterday

This is a press release from the California Highway Patrol. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

chpstarOn the morning of Thursday, April 14, a Ford Escort was traveling northbound on US-101, north of Palmer Blvd., lost control and collided into two other vehicles traveling on the roadway.

At approximately 7:35 a.m., 30 year old female, Amy Hogan of Fortuna was driving a 1999 Ford  Escort northbound, within the left hand lane, of US-101.  For reasons still under investigation Hogan lost control of her vehicle.  The front of her Ford Escort collided into the rear of a 1999 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 30 year old Brandon Hatch of Eureka.  Hogan’s Ford Escort traversed into the right hand lane.  The front end of Hogan’s vehicle then collided into the rear end of a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by 20 year old Asa Purnell of Loleta.  After the collision all the involved parties were able to move their vehicles out of the roadway and safely onto the shoulder.  There were no injuries sustained during this collision.  All occupants were restrained and DUI is not a factor in this collision.

The California Highway Patrol Humboldt Area is investigating this traffic collision.
