Critically Wounded Victim Sent to Hospital With Gunshot Wound, Eureka Man Arrested
One man is critically wounded and another in jail following a shooting on Humboldt Hill at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Aspen Way.
According to the scanner, a female reported to 911 that a male had been shot in the upstairs of the house by another male subject. The female said she was in a bedroom downstairs with an infant at the time and that the suspect was with the victim. Multiple Humboldt County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol units headed to the address.
When we arrived on the scene, Law enforcement was still giving commands for the suspect to come out of the house. He did not comply immediately.
However, eventually, the suspect, 34-year-old Brian Swan, came out of the house and was taken into custody.
After securing the area, deputies located the victim. The victim was taken to the ambulance.
According to scanner traffic the suspect victim had been shot to the middle of the body and had lost a lot of blood. The victim was taken to the hospital. We don’t yet know what happened with the infant.
The suspect was taken to the Humboldt County Jail and booked for attempted homicide.

Dont leave out supposed victim broke into house looking for confrontation.
Yeah Humboldt! Such a great place to raise a family!
This stuff happens everywhere not just here. At least we are able to read about it quickly and prepare ourselves.
Suspect, victim, I’m confused.
Yes, the “According to scanner traffic” sentence should be changed to say it was the victim, not the suspect, who was shot and lost a lot of blood. Unless both of them did… but it sounds like only the victim went to the hospital, while the suspect, Swan, went to jail.
Would it be possible to put names under pictures? Can lead to alot of confusion in following the thread of the story. thanks kim
