[UPDATE] One Drowns Near Hoopa

One person drowned today in a tragic incident on the Trinity River. A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed that the agency responded to the area near the Tish Tang Campground after receiving a request from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. A resident in the area reported that a Coast Guard helicopter began searching the river around 5:30 p.m.

A local tells us that three people from out of the area who were staying in the campground went into the water. One drowned. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office brought in the survivors.

UPDATE 4/7: Go here for the latest as searchers still look for the missing man.

I hope the decease can rest in peace.
I am wondering if the person was fishing or attempting to swim.
