Armed Robbery Reported at Miranda Bridge

A 19-year-old victim told the Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies that he was robbed at knife point near the Miranda bridge on Tuesday, March 22. According to Selena Zorilla-Mendoza spokesperson for the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the man reported that he had been parked near the bridge when a white male between the ages of 30 and 40 drove up in a black GMC Denali. The victim said the man then demanded his wallet and car keys at knife point. After the suspect drove away, the victim was able to hitchhike to Miranda and call law enforcement about 5:30 p.m.

I hope we don’t need to start a neighborhood patrol. This is inexcusable.

This happened to someone I know he seems to be suffering from some instability mentally right now at the same time, and the story seems very unclear. I personally believe there’s more to the story he’s not telling but he’s in no condition to answer questions thoroughly. He said they took his wallet but he found a small wad of money in his shirt pocket when I saw him yesterday.. He’s been a good kid for as long as I can remember but this is the second time in two years where he suddenly is incapable of speaking properly and recalling details.. mental illness runs deep in the family (as do drugs) maybe he has dabbled in to some & is unwilling to admit to it..
He said the car was still in Miranda but wouldn’t go back to it? He could easily have another key made by the lock doctor and get his car but he wouldn’t go there saying he was afraid to leave the house or be outside because he thought someone was trying to kill him
Things aren’t adding up but I sure hope someone gets to the bottom of it soon. 😔
