Peace officer powers were reinstated for Hoopa Tribal Police today. Tribal officers will be able to enforce state laws even outside of tribal lands.

Information from a Facebook post from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office states,

Today, March 22, 2016, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, the Hoopa Valley Tribe, and County of Humboldt to cross deputize Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Officers.

The Sheriff’s Office looks forward to working with HVTPD in providing law enforcement in the Hoopa and Willow Creek areas.

I’m pretty sure the ones you see in the picture were not massacred. They look very alive to me. Maybe you should evaluate your own relationship with your “white oppressors” before posting judgements of these people.

They are not the oppressors those are dead, and though there are still those who will ,its not what OUR precious god WANTS for anyone to hold us all as oppressors from so many years ago.LET the dead rest.
Harboring resentment is taking all the good precious energy from you .Life is fleeting ,live it with NO Hate.
May GOD bless unity of the working together.this is a great time FOR ALL CONCERNED.we need each other now.WE are facing far greater dangers now in this country.PRAYER for PEACE.

What a blessing to our valley.
May each officer be kept safe and able to rebuild trust and address the serious issues facing the people here.
I am not losing hope when I see trained officers working together for the betterment of Hoopa.
May they be given wisdom, discernment, calm hearts and minds as they work with the community and the folks needing help.
And abundant protection as they do their job.
Thank you for serving the community.
