Two Involved in Armed Robbery Caught on Camera; Recognize Them?

UntitledPress release from the Fortuna Police:

On March 19, 2016 at about 10:50 pm officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to a grocery store in the 2900 block of School Street, to the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers determined that a white male adult subject wearing a blue bandana over his face and a blue and black jacket, blue jeans and black gloves entered the business, brandished a small revolver and demanded money. A second subject described as a male adult with a mustache entered the business wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black beanie, black pants and red bandana over his face, and took an undisclosed amount of money. Both subjects then fled on foot south on Wood Street.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Fortuna Police Department at 725-7550 or the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.

My son used to work at that store. I begged him to quit, knowing just this shit was gonna happen. He did quit, thank god. U couldn’t pay me enough to work nights at a market or gas station. God bless and watch over these workers.

How scary! I always felt safe living in Fortuna but this robbery shook me up. I wonder if it has anything to do with the people that live behind Burger King or the cardboard holding people posted on all entertains of the fortuna mall?

I wish fortucky would adopt the no panhandling ordinance. We’re is this store that got robbed . Beverage plus ,or Campton heights. ? I wonder if theses guys are the ones robbing gas stations here lately? I wonder if they are the guys that shot at the old guy walking on Alliance Road in Arcata. CRAZY DAYS . Bet they are hanging out behind Bayshore Mall, and I am curious to see what kind of stuff they’re going to pull out of there May 2nd

Lol. What makes u think it is just transients and not possibly also the restless local youth! Wake up people! Do you know where your children are right now? Who do they hang with & exactly where they go & when? Time n time again local youth are arrested and released & you still just point fingers at just transients. What are you going to suggest next, build a wall around Humboldt & make Mendo & Trinity pay for it?

Humboldt love, Just out off curiosity, assuming you have a house car or place of residents, do you have a fence around your house or lock your doors? Why not just remove your doors and Windows and let anyone who wants come in and use your house and car, eat your food use up all your gas? Or perhaps my assumption is wrong and you do let anyone who wants to take the things you work for…

The guy with the mustache doesn’t look like a teenager. And who usually commits the crimes? People who need money– usually for drugs.

If local restless teens are going to go so far as to get a gun to commit a crime like this, their problem goes far beyond just being restless and most likely involves drugs or future drug use.

Go ahead and tell me all of the naive reasons I could be wrong, but deep down, you know I’m right.

The continuing effort to blame every crime on transients and homeless campers is despicable.

Any implication that housed people never commit crimes is also ludicrous.

Is there something in the water that makes people so stupid?

Just wait until our gas stations are just like the ones in Oakland… They make you uncomfortable just being there.

Are gas stations the highest robbed places? They sure seem so..

These crimes are committed by all walks of life and they happen everywhere. Just seems as though rural life use to be a lot safer. I never locked my house and use to leave my keys in my truck all the time day or night at home or the grocery store. Not any more. Since 2000 I’ve been robbed three times and twice was confronted by the assailants. Poor luck on their parts.
Population is larger and drugs are gripping a good share of it. Let’s face it jobs are not what they use to be either. These days they only pay a fraction of the needed income to live a decent life. I and my wife work 6 days a week just to be able to go on a nice vaca and send the kids to camp, swim lessons, and the doctor when needed.

I’m so great full ,and lucky to own my place . I inherited from my mom ,but sadly so many people struggle to make ends meet .,and when mixed with drugs and alcohol. Oh and no job you end up at Palo marsh .it s cause and effect . I don’t know what the solution is I wish i did .
