[UPDATE: 3:18 p.m. Road Open, Major Injuries] Multiple Victims Reported Injured in Head On Accident

Multiple occupants of two vehicles are injured after a head on traffic collision occurred today. The accident occurred at approximately 1:36 p.m. on Hwy 299 at mile marker 30.61. Hwy 299 is being shut down. At least one patient has to be extricated from a vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol Incident page, a Ford Explorer and a sedan have struck. Multiple emergency vehicles are on the way to the area.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m.: The CHP Incident page says that Hwy 299 is now open to one-way controlled traffic. According to scanner traffic, All three patients have been loaded into ambulances.

UPDATE 2:50 p.m.: The roadway is “shut down for [vehicle] recovery.”

UPDATE 3:10 p.m.: The road is open again, according to the scanner.

UPDATE 3:18 p.m.: The CHP incident page says this is a major injury accident.
