According to the scanner, a suspect crashed into multiple vehicles near the intersection of West Harris and Glen streets in Eureka. The crashes happened before 3 p.m. today.

The scanner reported that at least four vehicles were involved. A reader told us the suspect fled on foot, which matched what we heard over the scanner. Early reports indicate the suspect is a white male adult in his 30s. He was seen running southbound on Glen.

We don’t have a lot of information at this point, and calls to the Eureka Police Department have not been returned. We’ll update when we know more.

Update 4:55 p.m.: Eureka Police Department spokesperson Brittany Powell confirmed what was said over the scanner. Additionally, she said the suspect was driving a purple sedan, and officers weren’t able to find the suspect when they arrived at the scene.

At about 3 p.m., the owner of the vehicle called dispatchers to say the vehicle had been stolen from Fortuna. There is an open investigation to find out what caused the collision and who the driver was.
