[UPDATE 2:33 p.m.] Barn Burning Near Ferndale
A barn is burning in the 1800 block of Ambrosini Lane just northwest of Ferndale. Loleta Fire and Fortuna Fire have sent engines to assist Ferndale Fire.
Fortuna Fire reports on their Facebook page, “Fortuna Fire is responding to a mutual aid to the Ferndale area for a report of a barn fire. We will be assisting with our water tender (water tank truck) to help with water supply.
UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: “The fire is knocked down,” reports a firefighter at the scene. Fortuna and Ferndale assistance are sent home.

Nice to see that someone realizes how silly the term “knockdowned” sounds!
Hate to hear about an old Redwood barn going up in flames. Most likely it’s replacement will be one of those ugly metal prefab buildings. Humboldt county loses one more piece of historical architecture. Those hay bales burn all night. wonder if the cows are roasting marshmellows?
