[Update 4:37 p.m.] Injury Accident on Hwy 101 at the Van Duzen Bridge

A person has been injured in a traffic accident which occurred about 3:30 p.m. near the Van Duzen bridge on Hwy 101. The Toyota hit a tree. The patient has moderate to major injuries, according to emergency personnel on scene speaking over the scanner.

One lane is being closed at this time.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: According to the California Highway Patrol Incident page, the roadway is now clear.

If the person had just run off the road one foot this way they probably wouldn’t have even been injured. Redwoods are remarkably unforgiving.

Anyone get a pic of the license plate? This looks like the same vehicle I passed about two weeks ago near Pepperwood. The driver was texting on her iPhone with no hands on the steering wheel, weaving all over the place. I don’t know if it’s the same vehicle, but it is the same color and style as the one I saw.

Before smart phones and texting, some used to roll bones while driving. Wish I never did that!
