[Update 4:37 p.m.] Injury Accident on Hwy 101 at the Van Duzen Bridge

A person has been injured in a traffic accident which occurred about 3:30 p.m. near the Van Duzen bridge on Hwy 101. The Toyota hit a tree. The patient has moderate to major injuries, according to emergency personnel on scene speaking over the scanner.

One lane is being closed at this time.

UPDATE 4:37 p.m.: According to the California Highway Patrol Incident page, the roadway is now clear.

  • If the person had just run off the road one foot this way they probably wouldn’t have even been injured. Redwoods are remarkably unforgiving.

    Anyone get a pic of the license plate? This looks like the same vehicle I passed about two weeks ago near Pepperwood. The driver was texting on her iPhone with no hands on the steering wheel, weaving all over the place. I don’t know if it’s the same vehicle, but it is the same color and style as the one I saw.

  • Before smart phones and texting, some used to roll bones while driving. Wish I never did that!
