Two Locals Injured in Accident on Hwy 199

An accident on Hwy 199 yesterday sent two local residents to the hospital after a vehicle driven by a 62-year-old man from Ashland, Oregon slid into theirs. Mark Rylee, age 49 of Fortuna, and Jerry Rylee, age 69 of Mad River, were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital following the collision. Ted Martin of Ashland was eventually flown to Mercy Hospital in Redding with major injuries.

Below is a press release from the California Highway Patrol. 

chpstar[Ted Martin age 62 of Ashland, Oregon] was traveling southbound on US 199 south of Little Jones Creek Road in [a 1998 Chevrolet]. [

Mark Rylee age 49 of Fortuna, California]

was traveling northbound on US 199 south of Little Jones Creek Road in [a 2010 Dodge]. [Martin] for unknown reasons lost control of [his vehicle which] became sideways blocking both lanes. [Rylee] observed [the Chevrolet] skidding sideways towards [him so he stopped his vehicle] in the northbound lane. [Martin] was able to straighten [his Chevrolet] out however still traveling southbound in the northbound lane where the front of [his vehicle collided with the front of the other.] All involved parties were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital from the collision scene and [Martin] was later flown out to Mercy in Redding. Alcohol and/or drugs does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

Press release says “HWY 199″. Headline says ” HWY 299″.

still says Hwy 299 in the story itself, this is confusing..
