After Vehicle Pursuit Gets Wild Today, AK-47 Found in Suspect’s Possession

This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

201600592 BartlettOn Thursday, February 4, 2016, a Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff observed a vehicle drive past their location on HWY 255 between Manila and Arcata at about 25 mph above the posted speed limit. The deputy pursued the vehicle and the vehicle failed to yield. The suspect, 18 year old Tyler Bartlett, attempted to flee by turning onto J Street in Arcata where his vehicle collided with a parked car. The vehicle then turned and collided with another parked car. Bartlett fled on foot and the Arcata Police Department responded to assist. Bartlett was apprehended at K St and 6th St by APD Officers. A search of Bartlett’s person produced a switchblade knife. Deputies searched Bartlett’s vehicle and located a modified AK-47 assault type rifle, along with several high capacity magazines loaded with live ammunition.

Bartlett was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for illegally possessing an assault weapon, carrying a switchblade on his person, possession of a large capacity magazine, evading a peace officer, hit and run resulting in property damage, and speeding.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

Not too smart to even have it.
Too many young lives are living and dying by a weapon. Find inner peace and leave the bad habits behind. Only then will you experience true happiness.

FYI. I don’t smoke at all. I like a clear outlook on my life. Not a foggy one.

So was the gun stolen?? I ask this because if it was actually an “assault weapon” That means the gun was setup to be full-auto. (Which you cannot legally buy in the state of california) So unless he bought a california legal AK, then either drove across state lines to buy the parts he needed to convert it to full auto, or perhaps found a shady website to buy the parts from, It must be stolen or the only other options are A: Not technically an “assault rifle” / B: stolen / C: perhaps bought it legally out of state when he was residing in that state…Yes I’m a redneck I know about this stuff.
