The Eureka Police Department has released more information on last night’s home invasion on California Street. [See here for last night’s story.]

Below is today’s press release from the Eureka Police Department:

On January 31, 2016 at approximately 8:06 p.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of California Street on a report of a home invasion robbery. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim of an assault who had sustained a head injury. The investigation revealed that five alleged suspects entered the home through the front door. Three of the alleged suspects were armed; two with shotguns and one with a pistol. The suspects demanded money from the male victim, and struck the victim in the head with the pistol. The suspects then ransacked the residence looking for anything of value. The suspects stole an unknown amount of glass pipes, e-cigarettes and marijuana paraphernalia.

The suspects left the scene driving a white Ford Bronco. At this time it appears this was a targeted robbery and not a random occurrence. The victim was evaluated by medical personnel on scene and didn’t require further medical attention.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Eureka Police Department at 441-4060.

As to the news release by the local LEO….
“Serve and Protect” does NOT mean keep all information a secret. You can retain integrity in your investigation, but when Kym, LoCO and word of mouth beats your ‘news release’ all over the city its time to rethink your processes in keeping the public alerted to any potential threats. Like a gang of armed people on the streets!

Always enjoy your takes, Ernie, but you know it wasn’t. Perhaps OJ gave White Ford Broncos thug cachet?
