Boil Your Water, Redway Folks
Press release from the Redway Community Services District:
Due to the recent storm events and high turbidity in the Eel River water source, Redway CSD public water system has been unable to treat the finished drinking water to turbidity standards. Therefore, the California Division of Drinking Water in conjunction with Redway CSD Public Water System are advising residents of Redway to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution.
DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one (1) minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
Optional alternatives to include for prolonged situations:
An alternative method of purification for residents that do not have gas or electricity available is to use fresh liquid household bleach (Clorox, Purex, etc.). To do so, add 8 drops (or 1/4 teaspoon) of bleach per gallon of clear water or 16 drops (or 1/2 teaspoon) per gallon of cloudy water, mix thoroughly, and allow to stand for 30 minutes before using. A chlorine-like taste and odor will result from this purification procedure and is an indication that adequate disinfection has taken place.
Water purification tablets may also be used by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
As a precaution, chlorine disinfection of the finished water is being increased and closely monitored for effectiveness. We will inform you when tests show no bacteria and you no longer need to boil your water. We anticipate resolving the problem within 5 days.

Interesting … Redway just spent tens of thousands rebuilding the treatment facility?
I drank 2 glasses of it before making my coffee with it this morning… fantastic!
If you choose to boil your water, let it cool and then vigorously shake it (2 quart jug is handy) for a minute or so. This introduces air back into the water, and it won’t taste so “flat.” af
Don’t burn your lips. Boiled water is hot.
Mmm garbervills shit must taste good:-) I’m so glade I live in the hills and control my own power and water. Though ditching the roads in the rain suck, especially when most of my neighbors can’t seem to figure out how to use a FUCKING shovel. If you live on a community dirt road don’t be a lazy bitch, if you see a plugged ditch or colvert take a few minutes out of your busy day spending money and fix it, if the road blows you won’t be getting those diesel deliveries in the middle of winter and your twenty workers in their two wheel drive cars won’t be able to ruin our road, you know the one you don’t put any money on to fix:-( sorry seems like a good morning for rants.
I think you need your coffee this morning!but all neighbors who use those roads should help out really.we keep a shovel in the truck just for that.More storms are coming Be Safe
It might have been too much coffee;-)
