[Road Open!] Down Tree Closes Hwy 101 Near Big Lagoon

The California Highway Patrol reports a tree is down across Hwy 101 near Big Lagoon. The tree was reported down at approximately 1 p.m. The 25″ diameter tree is reportedly blocking both lanes of traffic.

According to Myles Cochrane a spokesperson for Caltrans, “Highway 101 just north of Big Lagoon is closed in both directions due to a downed tree across the road. Crews are on their way to remedy the situation.”

CHP says one of their units is on scene currently dealing with traffic.

UPDATE 1:54 p.m.: Cochrane tells us, “[T]he road is now clear. The tree was only 25 inches in diameter and was removed quickly as crews arrived on-scene.”

Note: an earlier version of this story said the tree was 25′ not 25″.
