More Choppers Heading South
A brace of helicopters flew out of the Arcata airport about 4 p.m. Residents of the North Coast have been reporting sightings of the handsome duo heading south since that point. These photos were taken by Oliver Cory in the Eureka area.
The copters are believed to be Chinooks and part of military maneuvers that have been crossing the the area lately. (See here for earlier reports.)
UPDATE 7:18 p.m.: Here is a photo provided by a reader of the choppers getting refueled at the Arcata Airport earlier today.

Still flying even at night in Fort Bragg @ 6:15.
Note the booms – practicing air-air refueling. We live under an air refueling track – I used to see KC-135’s refueling at high altitude all the time, and you can listen to them on discrete UHF low band ATC frequencies…..if you have a scanner that covers this band (many do).Sounds likean interesting exercise – wish I was closer, scanner in hand….

Would love to have seen these in person…on the ground of course 😛
