Any description of what types of vehicles were involved? My sister is not responding to calls or text messages.

I wish they’d put a better sign up to show cars are merging into traffic heading north off Indianola cutoff, its amazing how out of it many drivers are on the corridor, have seen so many close calls there. Its annoying at times but theres a reason its 50mph!!! So many times people fly by at 65mph and then I end up next to them at the light in eureka. Its just not worth speeding.
They will end up closing both cutoffs instead of craxy overpass ideas if people dont slow down.
I can only hope its the speeders and tailgaters getting in accidents- hopefully they’ll learn from it.

C’mon chp, get it together!!!!
I drive the corridor often and every time I see someone without lights on speeding while texting or talking on phone. I am sick of having to pay the same car insurance as these idiots!

Of course we all hope for the best and we do not know many facts on this accident. That said, I agree that we have a huge number of just plain terrible drivers. Speeding, texting, phoning, grab-assing and failing to adjust speed to suit the weather. These corridor intersections have wide-open visibility. But you have to DRIVE.

Indianola merge lane is too short. I always take Old Arcata Rd all the way to Arcata instead. Don’t like that on ramp. Also VERY high percentage of cell phone users in the “safety corridor”.

Too short? Slow down until you have an opening. There is no requirement that you merge at 50 mph.
