Stockings for Kids and Stuffing for All; Hoopa Tribe Gathers for Holiday Dinner
Better hurry, the Hoopa community is gathering for a holiday meal at the Elementary School cafeteria off of Hwy 96 from 2 to 6 p.m. today. This is a free dinner for the community, explained Warrior Manuel Sanchez, Administrative Assistant to the Tribal Chair.
“Not every family has the opportunity to have a complete dinner with all the trimmings,” he explained. “So this is an opportunity to feed everyone right before the holiday.”
Kids from “zero all the way up to 13,’ he said, will be given stockings stuffed with little gifts.
The eighth grade class is preparing a holiday meal for Tribal members. The students put in the low bid to host the annual event. The money they receive from the Tribe is a fundraiser for the 8th grade trip.
You really better hurry because as of 1:30 p.m., Sanchez said, “People are lining up.”
