Heavy Rain in Central and Southern Humboldt

549527_362025850509279_1313028475_nRain pounds down in central and southern Humboldt County at around 6 a.m. The National Weather Service in Eureka warns that this burst might last until 7 a.m. and result in minor urban flooding.

“Watch for water on the roads!” they urge.

They have issued the following warning, “Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas…highways…streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.”

Our small, dead end street in Miranda is a small not so dead end street at 6:45 AM. It’s a small completely open River that ends up in the South Fork of the Eel. Haven’t seen that for several years! Of course, the dogs aren’t too enthusiastic about going outside to go potty.
