[UPDATE 2:25 p.m.] Ettersburg Road Blocked; Power Lines Down

Wires are down near the Ettersburg Junction, according to scanner traffic and a report from the scene. As of 1:45 p.m., the Briceland Thorn Ettersburg Road is blocked not far from the junction. Reports from the scene say that a power pole is down and that the wires are “hot.”

Initial reports from the scene on the scanner say, “Traffic in the way and directly underneath the lines.”

UPDATE 2 p.m.: Original reports said that Briceland Thorn Road was closed but a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said that the Ettersburg Road is closed due to power lines down NOT Briceland Thorn.

UPDATE 2:07 p.m.: A reader tells us, PG&E “is on site, wires and tree still smoking and sparking.”

UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: A reader tells us that both Briceland Thorn Road and Ettersburg Road are closed.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: Reader Tim Cochrane tells us, “My wife is tied up in the mess attempting to come home to Ettersburg.  She says that now some vehicles are being escorted in one way fashion in the Thorn Rd but nuttin going to Eburg.”

About 20 cars backed up Ettersberg Rd. Any updates would be great. Worried about the school buses and how we are supposed to get our children today….

Telegraph Ridge and Whitethorn volunteer firefighters did traffic control for a few hours, with Ettersburg Rd. closed and Briceland-Thorn Rd. with only one lane. The tree is out of the road, don’t know about the electrical power. Both roads are now open.
