This is a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On Friday, November 27, 2015 at approximately 9:20 a.m. a Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff was driving through the parking lot of the Bear River Casino looking for stolen vehicles when he spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a blue Mercedes-Benz that was on the list. The Deputy conducted a records check on the vehicle’s license plate number and confirmed the vehicle was still listed as stolen.

The Deputy followed the vehicle as it exited the parking lot and drove down the road. Additional Deputies responded to the location and they conducted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle. The Deputy questioned the driver of the vehicle, Donna Yacks, age 46, of Phillipsville, as well as passengers Steven Ball, 68, of Phillipsville, and Ronald Lebrun, 42, of Phillipsville. Yacks stated she purchased the vehicle from Jesse James Adams, age 33, of Phillipsville. Yacks stated she paid $400 for the vehicle, and it did not come with a bill of sale. Deputies located drug paraphernalia in Yacks’ purse. Ball was questioned next and he stated it did seem strange the vehicle did not come with a bill of sale. A Be-on-the-Lookout was issued for Adams. All three were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the charges below.

Yacks – PC496D(a)- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle; HS11377(a) – Possession of a Controlled Substance; and HS11364(a) – Possession of Controlled Substance Paraphernalia.
Ball – PC496D(a) – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
Lebrun – Out of County Warrants

On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Deputies noticed a bicyclist riding in the dark without lights on the 3900 block of Cedar Street, Eureka. The Deputy stopped the bicyclist and it was Jesse James Adams. Adams was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for PC496D(a) – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle; and VC10851(a) – Take a Vehicle Without the Owners Consent.

Anyone with information for the Sheriff’s Office regarding this case or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 707-445-7251 or the Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip line at 707-268-2539.

O.k. so i’m just curious…how does one get arrested for possesion of a stolen vehicle, when the dude was found riding a bike in eureka? First off, I’m in no way defending anybody here. I’m just saying I don’t see how someone can be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle when he wasn’t even with the people that got caught red-handed driving the stolen vehicle. So my understanding is he was arrested because some tweeker got caught with a stolen car and said that she bought it from him?? This to me doesn’t seem like enough probable cause to arrest someone but I’m no lawyer and I really don’t know I’m just curious…Or was the bike he was riding stolen??

Cops have rubberstamp warrants so they don’t even need to call a judge, or file with the clerk.
Faith in justice is silly as thinking votes are counted.

Did you read the WHOLE article, or just what you wanted to read? The vehicle was stolen, and purchased from Jesse Adams. Therefor a BOLO was issued for Adams, who obviously was not the owner of the car of which the tweakers supposedly purchcased. Pretty simple, following the line of purchase, to find the original thief.

actually i did read the whole article…Just didn’t realize the word of one tweeker was enough to get some other tweeker who wasn’t even there arrested.

I see your point, maybe there is more to this than we know. JJ may already be known to police which would shock the P’ville community. Perhaps more data will be forthcoming from intrepid reporters.

Not sure the reference to Black Flag. Someone said one guy looks like Henry Rollins. If thats why, he wasn’t even in the band until 1981.

Is this the Steven Ball that is part of Humboldt’s early marijuana history? It was a landmark court case involving the difference between Satvia and Indica.

It’s good they got them . Steve ball is a known theif and he was just eye witnessed burglarizing a house in Miranda with the Adams guy . They are all involved in stolen vehicles . They should all have been right next to Dennis hicks on the most wanted due to the fact they are all home invasion burglars .
