Chilly Weather, Icy Roads: Be Careful!
Winter weather is impacting Northern California this morning. The National Weather Service in Eureka warns everyone to drive carefully, “as a line of precipitation combined with cold valley temperatures this morning may result in a brief period of snow and/or freezing rain, causing roads to become slippery along many roadways. This includes highways 101, 36, 299, 96 and 199.”
Already there have been two accidents in Mendocino County. A vehicle overturned south of Leggett and another hit a bridge on Hwy 101 near the exit to State Route 162 and Covelo.
Before traveling check out Caltrans traffic cams for our area and the Quick Map which shows accidents, etc. that might impede traffic.

Thanks! Critical news service!
Thanks for reports like this, Kym! I look at weather reports a bunch but it’s hard to get an overall picture sometimes. Weather reports predict what’s coming- not what happened. And our area gets such different weather from sea level to the mountains, from Del Norte to Mendocino…
