Masala’s Home!
We don’t have many details but, Masala, the little red panda who has been missing from her Sequoia Park Zoo habitat since Thursday has been found! About 1 a.m., Zoo Manager Gretchen Ziegler commented on a post on the Sequoia Zoo’s page,
Masala is safe and sound back at the zoo after an alert citizen noticed her in the neighborhood and called EPD, who alerted zoo staff. A perfect rescue from a tree ended with us all sleeping better tonight! More of the story tomorrow. Welcome back, Masala – we missed you!
Welcome back, indeed! Masala was the subject of an extensive hunt in Eureka in the days since her disappearance. Yesterday, volunteers searched the area. A dog was even brought in.
The news of the search swept across the nation and even across the sea but now she is safely home again.
The question is…with her new hobby…will she be out and about for zoo visitors to see her. Or will she be inside somewhere on a computer tweeting about her adventures?
Great news! A nice person found me waiting for my ride late last night. I'm back @SequoiaParkZoo living adjacent to my natural predators.

Good news!
Maybe consider installing deadbolts? They are, after all, related to raccoons and we all know what kind of trouble they can get into….
That’s the cutest gif!
Best news!!!chicken wire all around their habitat to keep those babies safe they are special
Ride on or at bird netting . Keep the eagles away. Bird netting is so cheap and easy to do. Put a flag pole up make like a May pole & tent it.
My thoughts exactly!
There is a small red panda in the park,
They say she’s missing from the zoo.
(that’s me, folks!)
And the police are looking high and low
But they have not seen her; have you?
(peek-a-boo!)
Why did she go?
Oh, I’ll tell you the reason:
‘Cause it’s red panda mating season.
When a red panda makes a date
She sneaks right through that old zoo gate.
So, if you see two red pandas necking in the park,
Don’t upset their apple cart.
Do not be a spy, you’re not the FBI
And you should never break a red panda’s heart!

Masala, you wild thing!
Glad the little lady is alright.
Wonderful news — Masala back from her “walkabout” and safely reunited with her family — twin sister Cini and mom and dad — Stella Luna and Sumo. (The photo — taken summer 2013 — is Masala’s parents — Stella Luna and Sumo.)
With all the bad news, world wide, this is one piece of news that really makes me smile. Welcome Home, Marsala. And thank you to the person who spotted her and called in the rescue call.
Now they need to stop pretending its a mystery how she escaped and fess up. They trimmed back the branch that facilitated the escape.
Happy Sunday everyone! great news…finally, we needed something to bring cheer to somewhat forget the negatives
Masala is actually an alien, she was brought to the mothership for briefing on the new plans. Turns out we’re the lost ones.
Looks like Masala made it all the way to Southern Humboldt to hang out with her otter friend on the South Fork Eel! 🙂
She’s so sly!
“Reunited and feels so good”. Glad this little girl was found alive and healthy.
Whew!
