Update on the Honeybucket Incident
Information from Brittany Powell, spokesperson for the Eureka Police Department:
On 10/17/15 at about 11:36 p.m., Officers responded to the overflow parking area north of the Bayshore Mall (known as the North 40 and an entrance to transient camp area) for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Based on the investigation it was determined that Shelly Bartley, 44 of Eureka, drove her vehicle into the greenbelt to meet her friend. Bartley became involved in an argument with transients and a bucket of human waste was thrown into Bartley’s vehicle. Bartley responded by driving erratically around the greenbelt and struck a male with her vehicle. The male suffered moderate injuries.
Bartley fled from her vehicle after the collision and hid in a nearby camp. After the collision, a fight broke out over what had just happened and an additional male was injured.
Both males were transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. Bartley was located in a camp nearby and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Bartley was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
