[UPDATE 10:37 p.m.] High Speed Pursuit Through Southern Humboldt Into Mendocino County Reaches Over 130 MPH

scannerAt approximately 7:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office chased a fleeing vehicle at speeds reaching over 130 miles an hour from at least Weott south into Mendocino County. The white sedan with three occupants sped down Hwy 101 followed by law enforcement.

According to scanner traffic, a spike strip was placed in the area of Richardsons Grove but the white sedan avoided the snare and continued into Mendocino County.

As of 8:30 p.m., a spokesperson at CHP dispatch would only say that officers were still “dealing with the situation” and were unable to answer questions.

UPDATE 10:37 p.m.: A reader tells us that he saw the sedan pulled over near Leggett. He said he saw “a bunch of cops…[A] lady with hands up on side of road. Maybe a couple of people laying on ground. Cops looked pretty serious.” All of the officers, according to the reader, had their guns drawn.
