According to Humboldt County court watcher, John Chiv (and new guest columnist here) the trial of Gary Bullock originally set for this fall has been postponed to February 8. Chiv reports  in his blog that Father Eric Freed’s twin sister objected to the continuation. Chiv wrote,

She said the family is in limbo with these continuances. She spoke about her 90 year old father deserving some peace and resolution.

Read more about what happened today in court here.

Bullock is charged with entering the Catholic Church rectory where Father Freed lived and bludgeoning the priest to death in the early hours of New Years Day 2014. (Timeline of events here.)

“And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast…He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.”

Due to the gag order and details of this discussion happening behind closed doors, we don’t know why.

There is a comment by local lawyer Allan Dollison on the post on my blog that Kym has linked that gives some insights.
