[UPDATE 9/22 p.m.] Assailant Leaves Bloody Trail But Escapes, Says Scotia Resident

HCSOA bloody trail left by a wounded assailant last Friday failed to lead officers to a suspected home invader, said Humboldt County Sheriff’s spokesperson Selena Zorrila-Mendoza. About 7 p.m. that evening, a resident of the North Court area of Scotia called 911 reporting that a scuffle with a man brandishing a gun had resulted in injuries to both of them. The assailant, the resident said, had fled leaving a bloody trail after being wounded by the resident with a knife. The resident had a small injury on the head that did not require medical attention.

Deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office attempted to follow the trail but were unable to locate anyone,” said spokesperson Selena Zorrila-Mendoza. Hospitals in the area were contacted but no one with appropriate injuries was located.

The case has been assigned to the detective bureau for further investigation.

Hopefully the perp bled to death. Then they won’t pull the same crap again on a citizen. Kudos to the home owner.

Most knife incidents end badly for both parties. The home owner got lucky. Take some friendly advice. Get a gun and learn to use it properly. You have the right to defend your home with it. Most of the time just showing it stops criminals from doing something stupid with no one getting hurt.

If you store your gun in a gun safe, how long does it take to have it in hand and ready to use?

People with guns are easy to knock out, learn to fight and not need a silly gun that will be taken from you.

Easy to knock out? In your video game. Maybe if you log off and go through military commando training you will have a chance to disarm someone while barehanded. Let us know how it goes, if you make it. I salute you in advance. Don’t let us down.
