This is very concerning. That place is a literal Hell-Hole down there.
If anyone wants to see first hand what’s happening to your town, I highly suggest driving under the Bear Canyon Bridge.
It’s disgusting to say the least.

I’m still waiting for the cause of the Wailaiki campers death. I don’t know how there is enough room for the high number of transients. I wonder if the permanent transients ( oops, sounds like an oxymoron ) feel crowded out of their campsites at certain times. I pray this was not violence and RIP whoever you are.

There are people who have lost work hours, lost family, lost their way that have no one to turn to for help. I for one, am saddened by this being tolerated. We should ALL try to help those who are seeking help. People like Betty Chinn DO EXIST and will do everything they can to clothe, clean-up, feed and assist those she can in seeking some kind of support, maybe even a job of some sort. They live when they can because thats where they are.

On the other hand, those ‘permanent transients’ you mentioned need to be run out of town on a rail, with a few exceptions. Anyone who is ‘voluntarily unemployed’ and CHOOSES to remain around the area and get crackheaded at every opportunity, stay drunk, bum money for drugs and booze, steal and commit violence need to be dealt with harshly. And expeditiously. The citizens of Humboldt need to wake up, quit coddling those who think they’re ‘gettin over’ and DUMP THE GARBAGE!

The county needs a focus and enforcement of laws for people illegally camping and squatting and a team of professionals to visit the camps and provide a way, through intervention, for the people to get moving and help and use their benefits to find housing, instead of more drugs and alcohol, and find somewhere to go where the services are and then the camps need to be closed and the debris cleaned up and then they need to stay on it and make sure the same places aren’t used again. This should be a priority as most know these camps are magnets for violent crimes and murders.

If you are referring to Rachel D. she passed from an upper Gi bleed, is what her family told me. They did say that the Coroner wasn’t very nice and made accusations like this report is too them. Can you imagine when you are grieving for your child, people are saying and writing unknown facts. This way it looks like those people that struggle with no shelter are ” bad” people. There’s a bad apple in every bunch of people in society.
