These Incimaps are not nearly as good as your earlier maps. I imagine you’d still have the person preparing the older maps if you could. So, many thanks to him. We miss his maps.
Ed, these maps like the others came from Cal Fire or from the US Forest Service. But as the fires die down, the need for details in the maps here is less important than elsewhere so we just don’t get top priority anymore.
I’m just interested in the Lassics fire, and wondering if in any way it threatens Blocksburg. The map doesn’t help.
Thanks for your great coverage of these fires. You’ve shown what amazing things can be done for local news.
The black lines on the map show completed fire lines…That doesn’t mean the fire can’t jump the line but it is highly unlikely to do so at this point. The only areas in red are to the south and east. Unless something extraordinary happens, Blocksburg should be safe.
Hi Kym,
Thanks a lot for your coverage. Somebody’s naked raindance must have worked. I haven’t had great success manipulating some of your fire maps (old computer without current flash capabilities), saw this one on LOCO. I used to be the relief lookout on the Shasta-Trinity in the mid 70’s and worked Pickett Peak and emptied the garbage at Forest Glen. Are they OK? Does anyone know if “Hidden Valley Ranch” was burned?
Thanks, I got to take a trip to Hayfork, my adopted home when I was 25, I’m afraid of what I’ll see.
Can I drive up 36 from Fortuna and then turn left on 3 into Hayfork?
Mr. Bill, I’m sorry the maps aren’t working for you. I’m afraid I don’t know the answers to your questions about what was burned but you can call the public information officer for that area. 707-574-6289.
36 and 3 are both open. Good luck!
Thanks Kym.
Want to go, back through Weaverville? Tomorrow (just kidding – not).
I’m teaching again. I barely have time to breathe.
