[UPDATE 1:13 a.m.] Two Vegetation Fires Burning Near the Samoa Bridge
Scanner traffic indicates that there are two separate blazes near the Samoa Bridge as of 11:45 p.m. There is one just north of the bridge on the Samoa side and one south of it between Cookhouse Road and the bridge.
Oliver Cory, our reporter, is at the north fire and tells us that it is fairly small. We hear on the scanner that one fire is a 1/2 acre to one acre in size but at this point it isn’t clear which one.
Law enforcement has been requested to handle traffic control. Please avoid the area if possible.
UPDATE 12 a.m.: The north fire is out contained and our reporter is headed to the south fire.
UPDATE 12:06 a.m.: Scanner traffic states that the Cookhouse Fire is a 1/2 acre fire with a slow rate of spread with a limited potential to grow.
