[Update: Reader Photos!] Two New Vegetation Fires Erupt on River Bar Near Ferndale
According to the scanner, there is a new vegetation fire near East Ferry Road on the river bar in the Ferndale area. Fire crews were asked to respond to the incident before 1:15 p.m. today. According to the dispatcher on the scanner, there are two fires at this location. These are early reports, so we’ll update this post as we find out more information.
Update 1:30 p.m.: A fire crew that is on the way to the scene is saying that it may be at the same location as a previous incident.
“This is where the fire was burning the other night when we came down here,” said a crew member over the scanner.
Update 1:32 p.m.: Cal Fire is being notified of the incident, and the crew that is already at the scene is saying the fire could be burning for awhile.
Update 1:39 p.m.: The fire is about two acres in size.
Update 1:42 p.m.: According to a crew member at the scene, the fire may be contained by water on one side of the fire and gravel on the other.

Update 3:14 p.m.: The fire is reportedly on “the island,” and has spread to be about three acres.
