Mountain Lion Alert for College of the Redwoods

Cougar_closeupStudents who will be attending College of the Redwoods were warned today of a possible unwelcome visitor–a mountain lion. A housing resident assistant reportedly spotted the large cat while jogging near Tompkins Hill Road just south of the main campus. Students were urged to use caution and not hike or bike alone in the area.

Classes technically began yesterday but for most students the start of the semester is tomorrow and many students may not be pleased at the thought of sharing their campus with the beautiful but dangerous predator.

Below is the alert sent out to students.

Everyone are crying about the wolfs that just made an come back after 91yrs. I’d be more scared to walk out my door and see this big cat standing on my porch than a wolf .

My niece had one charge her a couple days ago while jogging in benbow. It was early in the morning and she too was by herself. To this point, I have not heard of the DFW trying to do anything about the mountain lion. If I hear otherwise I will post what I find out.
