As the Fires Grow: Map Gifs of the River, Route, South and Mad River Complexes

Take a look at the massive growth of these fires throughout the month of August. In yesterday’s post, we asked readers which fires they wanted to see in an animated time-lapse format. Today, we have four more reader-requetsed animations so you can understand the tremendous devastation theses fires have caused. The animations below show how the fires have progressed between August 2 and August 15.

The Castle Fire (to the north in the South Complex) and Johnson Fire(west and south of Hyampom in the Route Complex) grew dangerously last night. Residents along Garrett Road were given Mandatory Evacuation orders at approximately 9pm. Fire crews guarded structures through the night. It is feared the fire will spread in today's warm windy conditions.

The Groves Fire forced many residents of Denny to flee when they were put under mandatory evacuation orders early this month.

The Gobbler and the Pickett Fire. The southeastern edge of the Picket Fire to the east of Ruth Lake is now forcing residents of Forest Glen from their homes.
