Areas Closed to Hunters Because of Wildfires

Because of the Lightning Fires, multiple hunting and camping areas are closed. Here’s the map and the press release giving specific details what areas cannot be currently accessed.

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the ShastaTrinity National Forest. This Order is effective from August 8, 2015, until the Fork, South, Route, and Mad River Fire Complexes are declared out.

  1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Fork, South, Route and Mad River Complex Fire Closure Areas on the ShastaTrinity National Forest described below and shown on Exhibit A.

    1. Route/South Fire Closure Area The boundary of the Route/South Fire Closure Area on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest begins at the intersection of the ShastaTrinity Forest Boundary (Township 4 North, Range 6 East, Section 15, Humboldt Meridian) and the Hayfork Ranger District boundary, then continues southwest along the Forest boundary to its intersection with Forest Road No. 6N01, then continues southeast along the Forest boundary to its intersection with South Fork Mountain Road (Forest Road No. 4N12), then continues southeast along South Fork Mountain Road to its intersection with Sulpher Glade Creek (Township 1 North , Range 6 East, Section 3, Humboldt Meridian), then continues northeast along Sulpher Glade Creek to its intersection with French Ranch (Township 2 North, Range 6 East, Section 25, Humboldt Meridian), then continues east through Township 2 North, Range 7 East, Section 30 and Section 29 to Limedyke Lookout Road (Forest Road No. 2N16), then continues north along the road to its intersection with St. John Road (County Road 316), then continues north along St. John Road to its intersection with Hayfork­

Hyampom Road (County Road 301), then continues west along County Road 301

into Hyampom to the intersection of the Corral Bottom Road (County Road 327), and

·then north to its intersection with Underwood Mountain Road (Forest Road 5N60) (Township 3 North, Range 7 East, Section 6, Humboldt Meridian), then continues north along Forest Road 5N60 to its intersection with the Hayfork Ranger District boundary (Township 4 North , Range 7 East, Section 31, Humboldt Meridian), then continues west along the Hayfork Ranger District boundary back to the starting point.

    1. Mad River Fire Closure Area – The boundary of the Mad River Fire Closure Area on the ShastaTrinity National Forest begins at the intersection of Highway 36 (Township 1 South, Range 8 East, Section 19, Humboldt Meridian) and Rattlesnake Ridge Road (Forest Road No. 29N58), then continues west along Highway 36 to its intersection with the Shasta-Trinity Forest boundary (Township 1 South, Range 7 East, Section 7, Humboldt Meridian), then continues southeast along the Forest boundary to its intersection with the Hayfork Ranger District boundary (Township 2 South, Range 8 East, Section 21, Humboldt Meridian), then continues east along the Ranger District boundary to its intersection with Rough Gulch Trail (Forest Trail No.

12W37), then continues northeast along Rough Gulch Trail to its intersection with the South Fork Trinity River Trail (Forest Trail No. 8El 8), then continues northwest along the South Fork Trinity River Trail to its intersection with Scott Flat (Forest Road No. 1S25), then continues north along the Scott Flat Road to its intersection

with Rattlesnake Ridge Road (Forest Road No. 29N58), then continues north along Rattlesnake Ridge Road back to the starting point.

    1. Fork Fire Closure Area – The boundary of the Fork Fire Closure Area begins on Soldier Creek Road (Forest Road No. 33N47) at its intersection with Bell Gulch Road (Forest Road No. 33N03Y) (Township 33 North, Range 11 West, Section 25, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues southwest along Soldier Creek Road to its intersection with Big Creek Road (County Road 324) (Township 32 North, Range 11 West, Section 6, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues south along Big Creek

Road to its intersection with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest boundary (Township 32 North, Range 11 West, Section 30, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues west and then south along the Forest boundary to its intersection with Indian Valley Road (Forest Road No. 2N10) (Township 31 North, Range 12 West, Section 21, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues west along Road No. 2Nl0 to its intersection with Post Mountain Road (Forest Road No. 2N07), then continues southeast along Post Mountain Road to the intersection with Glade Road (Forest Road No. 30N50) (Township 30 North, Range 12 West, Section 19, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues south to the intersection with Forest Road No. 1Nl 2 and then continues southwest on 1N12 to the intersection with North Post Creek, and then south along Post Creek to the intersection with Forest Road No. 30N59 (Township 30 North, Range 12 West, Section 31, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues southwest along Post Creek Road to its intersection with Highway 36, then continues east along Highway 36 to its intersection with Red Mountain Motorway (Forest Road No.

29N73), then continues southeast along Red Mountain Motorway to its intersection with WildMad Road (Forest Road No. 29N30), then continues north along Wild­ Mad Road to its intersection with Highway 36, then continues east along Highway 36 to its intersection with Browns Creek Road (Forest Road No. 30N01) (Township 29 North, Range 10 West, Section 8, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues northeast along Browns Creek Road to its intersection with Browns Creek (Township 30 North, Range 9 West, Section 7, Mount Diablo Meridian), and then continues northeast up Corral Gulch on Forest Trail No. 9W25 to its intersection with the Forest boundary (Township 30 North , Range 9 West, Section 6, Mount Diablo Meridian), then continues north along the Forest boundary to the section line dividing Section 18 and Section 19, Township 31 North, Range 9 West, Mount Diablo Meridian, then continues east along Section 18, then continues northwest along the forest boundary

to its intersection with the southeast corner of Township 33 North, Range 11 West, Section 36, Mount Diablo Meridian, then continues north along the eastern section lines of Section 36 and Section 25 (Township 33 North, Range 11 West, Mount Diablo Meridian) back to the starting point.

  1. Being on any National Forest System road within the Fork, South, Route, and Mad River Fire Complex Fire Closure Areas on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, as shown on Exhibit A.

  1. Being on any National Forest System trail within the Fork, South, Route, and Mad River Fire Complex Fire Closure Areas on the ShastaTrinity National Forest, as shown on Exhibit A. 36 CFR 261.55 (a).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission .

  1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A. Violation of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
