[UPDATE 8:30 p.m.] Day 13, Lightning Fires
- Gasquet Fire: (Current as of 8:45 a.m.) 2288 acres burned and 20% containment. “Representatives from the Six Rivers National Forest and the Southern California Incident Management Team 2 will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Gasquet Ranger District. Everyone in the community is invited and welcome to attend. For those unable to attend the meeting go to http://www.ustream.tv/channel/gasquet-complex to watch the meeting streaming live.” (More info here)
- Humboldt Complex (Alderpoint and surroundings):(Current as of 7:20 p.m.) 4,696 acres burned and 60% contained. Structures Destroyed: 6 outbuildings. Firefighter injuries to date: 13, Total Personnel: 1,755. “Fire growth is not anticipated on the Blocksburg, Bluford, Dobbyn, Steelhead, Wildcat or Winchester Fires.” Note that the Pine Fire is not listed here. - Jerusalem Fire (Lake County): (Current as of 7:30 p.m.) 14,000 acres burned and 5% containment. “Erratic winds are contributing to the increased fire activity and promoting high intensity runs with short range spotting…FURTHER EVACUATIONS FOR THE JERUSALEM VALLEY: A Mandatory Evacuation is issued for Morgan Valley Road from the Reiff Road intersection east to the Napa County Line, Reiff Road from the Morgan Valley Road intersection east to the Yolo County Line. ” The Middletown High School evacuation center will remain open.” (More info here.) - Mad River Complex (Ruth Lake and Surroundings):(Current as of 8 p.m.) 19,963 acres burned and 40% contained. “The south end of the Lassic Fire crossed Bear Creek on Sunday. With a slope reversal, the fire made a significant uphill run with spotting ahead of it. On the north end, the fire is hung up in the Blanket Creek bottom but is expected to come out with an aggressive uphill run.” (More info here) Telephone number for the public information officer is 707-574-6289.
- River Complex:(Current as of 8:05 p.m.) 21,072 burned and 12% contained. “The predicted winds did not materialize on the fire despite today’s red flag warning for high south winds…Moderate growth occurred on the southeast portion of the fire near Big Mountain. Fire progression in this area is expected to continue eastward. Firefighters are looking for opportunities to build contingency lines in this section of the fire…There will be a River Complex community meeting in Willow Creek tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, at 6:00 p.m. at the Umpqua Bank, 39171 Hwy 299 (across from Ace Hardware)…Those unable to attend the meeting may view it on USTREAM at www.ustream.tv/channel/rivercomplex.” (More info here.) - Rocky Fire (Lake County): (Current as of 7:10 p.m.) 69,636 acres burned and 88% contained, 43 residences, 53 outbuildings destroyed; 8 structures damaged. “The Rocky Fire containment continues to grow and you may see several small flare ups within the interior. - Route Complex (south and west of Hyampom and Buck Mt. area):(Current as of 7:50 a.m.) 25,832 acres burned and 18% contained. “Southerly winds are expected, which will bring more topography into alignment with the wind, thus increasing fire intensity.” (More info here.) - South Complex (north and west of Hyampom):(Current as of 8:00 p.m.) 15,131 acres burned and 13% containment. “A low pressure system off the coast of Oregon will bring more cumulus buildup throughout the next few days, resulting in lower temperatures and slightly breezier conditions.” (More info here)
