YOUR FIRE MAPS 8/10/15

————————

UPDATE August 11: Updated maps are now available. Click here to go to the August 11 versions.

Here are today’s fire maps. Check out how the fires have changed for better or worse by comparing the images over time. These are, in most cases, more accurate than the InciWeb maps.  Click the thumbnails at the bottom of this post for the PDF maps, and click the links below the thumbnails to go to the incident pages for each of the listed fires.

We’ve added the Rocky and Jerusalem fires to our lists. The Google Earth map now includes those two fires, but it only shows the perimeters of the fires.

[…] On this the 12th day of the Lightning Fires, we continue to bring you the latest information as quickly as possible. As we update each incident throughout the day, we’ll note the time the facts were posted so you can quickly see if there is something new on these incidents. Day 10 for the new TRINITY PINES FIRE DEPARTMENT. Made up of local residents {hillbillys (long time residents), Hmong community (full-time residents with families) & growers (some of who are full-time residents with families)}, the TPFD continues it’s heroic efforts to battle fires without the equipment available to most fire departments.
BIG UP to the Post Mountain VFD for helping, when the chain of command allows them to.
Without the TPFD’s tireless efforts, the entire Post Mountain area would have flamed over. This area also includes roads and highways in and out of the area, which are being used by ALL fire and law-enforcement agencies to access the center of the Fork Mountain Complex.

It would have been easier to say “made up of growers, some whom are Hmong, hillbillys and residents.”

Why is the fact that some people are growers so important to some people?
My compassion for YOU will not stop at YOUR doorway even if you are a grower, a heroin user, a gay person or if your skin color or accent are not the same as mine.
Like any other farmer, this year’s crop supports the family until next year’s crop is in and sold. Look up America’s long and continuing story of the small farmer: one season’s crop loss can mean losing everything.
I am not a grower, but I do have a 215, and I don’t know any growers who are fabulously wealthy.

Not like “any farmer”. There is no crop, that I know of, that a football size bag weighing apprx. 454 grams will bring the farmer at least $1,200 for said bag. Looking at Trinity Pines on google earth, the “small farmers” in that area seem to be making a good living. I guess “fabulously wealthy” is all about perspective. I’m no grower hater, just calling it like I see it.

I’m sorry, it is hard to understand. Without a college education in agriculture or personal experience of farming, the economics of farming are difficult. The gross profit, minus all miscellaneous costs to produce, less depreciation of land and equipment, less labor costs = net profit. Net profit less cost to live until the next crop is harvested = actual fabulous wealth made by growers.
There are many legal crops much more valuable than cannabis by volume: saffron, cardamon, etc. Kool aid powder, by weight, is one of the most expensive food items.
