UPDATE 1:57 p.m.: The California Highway Patrol’s Matt Harvey said a landlord/tenant dispute in the 2100 block of Avalon Serenity Lane in Cutten led to the tenant striking the landlord with a vehicle at around 12:15 p.m. today.
“It was an intentional act — what we believe to be an intentional act,” Harvey said.
The suspect was seen walking around behind the residence and was detained at the scene.
There was a report that the tenant had a firearm, and law enforcement officers located what appeared to be a semiautomatic firearm. However, it was later determined that the weapon was actually a bb gun.
Sgt. Kenny Swithenbank from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office said the tenant is being transported to jail and is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Swithenbank said there has been an ongoing issue between the landlord and the tenant, and the suspect was in the process of being evicted.

This is just another example how bad the crime rate is in Eureka lost Coast outpost post the names of people when they’re rested, however we never hear about how many people have been released either on your own recognizance or bailed out of jail. This guy no doubt wall post bail and get out of jail
If the Humboldt County ‘hanging judges’ don’t immediately release him he does have the 8th Amendment right to bail.
We really should have the right to hear about the out traffic from the correctional facility. With social media I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be very costly, just man hours of typing.
Wow that sheriff is huge .How can he ever chase a criminal if he has to
