[…] UPDATE 4:50 p.m.: More on the Trinity Co. evacuations and road closures here. […]
Looks like most people in the Pines stayed and ones that left are coming back and starting to clean up down trees etc.
Are you seeing lots of burned gardens?
You seem worried you might not have product to broker. Relax, plenty of product for you to get your hands on.
The area is Trinity County’s largest economic zone, and many people will be suffering from this loss of revenue. Growers on down the line to the trash that creeps around Weaverville will feel this impact.
Back in 08 the wine produced had a smoke taste and gave many people terrible body rashes from the poison oak in the air. Smoked buds didn’t fare well, either.
So early in the year we are bound to see more fires and loss of revenue for the area. Hayfork and the work of people that live there, have allowed Trinity County to survive. Without Hayfork, Weaverville would blow away in the wind and hundreds of overweight people that work in the stucco building wouldn’t be able to feed themselves from the work and bounty of Hayfork.
Anyone that had their property burned should get their property taxes adjusted downward. Weaverville’s fatty fats will have to learn to do with less, should stay out of Hayfork, and learn to run those lemonaide stands they so love to shut down. They’ve gotten their high BMI’s from Hayfork and after this disaster should understand exactly who butters the bread they steal.
“Grumpys” comment was about the Pines, not Hayfork. I’m sympathetic to small time families trying to make it, but have to draw the line somewhere. You know that most people easily clear 500k for the year. A million dollars is the new 100k. Do you know how much people that go into debt for college and have Master degrees make? People get into this game knowing it is a game. There are many risks to growing cannabis. The huge amount of profit make it worth to some to take the risks. So you throw up youre grow, its gets burned. Sucks, but thats the cost of doing business. USe your huge proffits from the previous year to fund the next. Lets be real here. The days of “just getting by” are long gone. I had someone tell me even after the fires they are going to clear 2,000 pounds in that area. Simple math tells me that they will bring in 2 MILLION+ dollars. So boo hooing and “feel sorry for me”, “lower my property taxes” goes out the frickin window. Economies, like anything else shouldnt be built on unstable grounds, such as the ILLEGAL cannabis business. It is ILLEGAL, isnt it?
Wow. I’ve been around here since 1976 and Weaverville was just fine before the present blow-ups of grows in Trinity Pines and Hayfork. Indeed, some things were much better. And I have no problem with the herb. I am however tired of claims that we all “need” the abundance of over-the-top grows we now have. I’m glad everybody is safe but I’m okay with a bunch of gardens burning. I won’t feel sorry for the greedy green rushers.
Report is 25% of gardens burned, about 200 properties and 20 + structures, but no injuries reported from fire, and that is amazing considering how fast it raced thru the Sub Division.
So, who really is going to loose? Think about it! What on this earth is more deadly? Mj or chem drugs? None is a really great choice, ask yourself which would you rather your family battle: mj, meth, herion, scrip drugs or alcohol? None of the above would be my choice. I would however, approve the use of mj over any of the above. Why? Because I have never seen a person in trinity that uses only mj become violent, uncaring or disrespectfull. Most of the folks uses on a meds scrip. Are we now Doctors? No. Just use the good reasoning that has always guided us during trying times. None of us knows all of answers!
