What a joke it was the people that risked their lives to get there to fight that fire that saved a good portion of the pines a lot of great work was done by the Hmong Community I doubt that all post mountain volunteers ever thanked them

Lets put things in perspective. The Hmong community stayed and fought fires to protect their grows. PERIOD. If your income and a big one at that, is on the line, most will do whatever neccesary to save it. Im no hater, but things need to be seen as they really are. They risked their lives to save their grow.

Most, if not all, of the Hmong community are full time residents. They’re not just protecting grows they are fighting to save their homes and everything they own.
How hard would it be to drive off and leave all you have?

How many of them would be living there if they did not have grows? My point is protecting the grow is top priority. I’m sure it would be much easier to drive away from a structure than it would be to drive away from truck loads of money.

if people want to risk their lives to defend their own house and property they should have every right to do so as long as they’re not in the way causing problems

somebody had to fight the fire pmvfd engines where down in hayfuck. why where the pmvfd engines not here, we pay for that equipment thru property tax to protect our community, but when the fire came pmvfd was gone..the chief has some explaining to do to the Grand Jury..
I’m also tired of hearing them say we don’t get paid BULL SHIT they get $30 hour when they help USFS or Cow Fire…just look at pmpud records..I was on pmvfd years ago so I know it’s a fact I got paid and I still have the paper work, I was also a pmpud member. this info is public,so if you dont believe me look for yourself’

BIG UP to the Post Mountain VFD!! They are part of a chain of command, and don’t always get to choose where they are deployed.
Residents are learning that “Voluntary” evacuation means that NOBODY’S COMING to help and “Mandatory” means they’re LETTING IT BURN.
BIG UP to the volunteer firefighter who drove around on Friday, while propane tanks were exploding and trees were lighting up, to warn the residents.

Emotions are as hot as the fires these days. Our volunteer firefighters put there lives on the line every day! I have never heard a firefighter refuse to help someone in need because, they “don’t get paid”. Do you think they are in it only for the glory? What glory? Most of the time no one even knows they exist. I am honored to be a wife of a volunteer firefighter. He is a HERO!!!

Forest Circus has done everything they can to disrupt PMVFD for years now. Forest Circus Clowns with their ticket writing abilities want to act like cops, want the over time on fires, and don’t really put fires out but “manage” them.
This should be a giant wake up call to people and they should no longer do any type of business with anyone from the Circus. Don’t rent to them, don’t sell them property, don’t sell them food, and don’t sell them services.
If the Circus had it’s way the Pines would burn until past the first rains, with people standing around getting over time and watching things burn. Same old story.

Boycott anyone that works for the Circus.

OK, so when your place is on fire and the USFS is offering to wrap your structures or help protect your property in any way that they can, you will turn away their help? I seriously doubt it.

Done it before in 08 and 12.

They manage fires and don’t put them out. They will argue with CalFire on who is in charge, while watching the fire burn.

They are green because they aren’t ripe.

From road closures to anti off roading their message is crud. Quads are wrecking the forest, but we’ll take money to allow cattle to graze in trout areas…. it’s all about money, power, and control.

It would be sweet if Frontier stopped selling anyone that worked for them fuel.

Whatever the reason the people in the Pines stayed and fought the fire, there is no denying it was incredibly brave and resulted in saving most of the community up there because at the first fire meeting in town, it was obvious the fire fighting personnel was unaware of how desperate the situation was up there. Most questions about the Pines were met with blank stares and short answers of “I need to get up there, I will get back to you”. What I think is the most beautiful result of this tragedy is the change of attitude towards the Hmong community. Before the fire there was quite a bit of animosity towards them as a group and a very closed off, protective demeanor assumed by them. After the fire, the appreciation everyone felt towards them for their courageous efforts, whatever their motivations, was visible everywhere. Overnight, the Hmong community became part of our community.
