Scanner traffic indicates the Eureka Police Department (EPD), Humboldt Bay Fire and City Ambulance responded to an assault in a field near J Street and Second Street (see map below) in Eureka before 11 p.m. on Monday night.

“I’ve got a subject with a major head injury,” an officer said over the scanner. “He’s unresponsive.”

The officer said over the scanner that there were “several intoxicated subjects” at the scene, and a woman who had been assaulted was attempting to walk away. The officer was able to get the woman to come back, and he later said the woman also had a “major head injury.”

At one point, it was reported that the weapon used in the assault was “a large stick.” EPD officers stayed at the scene and investigated after the victims had been loaded into the ambulances.

Officers detained a “possible suspect” at the scene, but it’s unclear if they determined the man had actually committed the crime.

One of the victims, according to the scanner, suffered facial deformations from the assault, and the other had a laceration to the head. Both were transported to the hospital.

An EPD officer at the scene said they would not be giving a press statement.

You do a better job covering Eureka news than LOCO does.

From the looks of it a fake “me” will be posting there soon, there’s an impostor profile posting now but apparently that’s what Hank wants, a platform for Trolls, Stalkers, Anti Abortion Porn, and a Right Wing Echo Chamber where they can all agree with each other, pat themselves on the back and tell each other
how wonderful they are. Yay, good going, I wonder how long it will take them to report the impostor, assuming they do.

I used to live right there, in the apartments at the foot of I. My cat loved hunting in that field. We moved to Pine Hill five years ago; the final straw was when my boyfriend was assaulted on our front porch after confronting a tweaker who was trying to steal his bike. Cute apartments, awesome landlord, but that was our wake-up call that it was tim to get out.
