Balloon Release For Missing Woman’s Birthday

The family of missing woman Sheila Franks are asking the community to release balloons to make a keepsake for her sons. (See posters below.) Franks has been missing since February of 2014. She and another woman, Danielle Bertolini, disappeared within a week of each other. A skull found in March of this year near the Eel River has been positively identified as Bertolini’s. But, so far, Franks has not been located.

While I can appreciate the thought and can not begin to understand their loss, releasing balloons is extremely harmful to the environment, wildlife and marine life especially. I wish someone would have told them that animals will die because of this.

I agree..it’s the same as throwing plastic bags around for no good reason..it’s littering and dangerous.

Totally agree with “baloons are trash”. So sorry for the family but they should rethink polluting the environment and possibly causing harm to animals.

I wish the family would have chosen a different means to honor her. Balloons are deadly to wildlife and become trash when they fall back to earth. I’ll be sending love and prayers, but no balloons.
