Vegetation Fire Near Highway 299 Quickly Extinguished

cal fireScanner traffic indicates fire crews are responding to a vegetation fire near Highway 299 “near the truck scale” by mile marker 9. The call went out just before 6:00 p.m. Several agencies have been asked to respond, and an air attack has been ordered. The fire is being called the “Scale” incident. As usual, we’ll continue to update this post as we get more information.

Update 6:11 p.m.: The location has been updated to mile marker 14. According to the scanner, the fire may be out already, but fire crews are not being canceled until a crew arrives at the scene.

Update 6:18 p.m.: A fire crew at the scene has confirmed over the scanner that the fire has been extinguished. Not all crews are being canceled, but the majority of the crews are returning to stations and other incidents.

Update 7:01 p.m.: Cal Fire spokesperson Laura Coleman tells us the fire was a 20 by 20 “grass fire.”
