Cyclist Killed in Mendocino, CHP Asks for Help Locating Suspect

From the California Highway Patrol:

chpstarA bicyclist was killed in a hit and run collision on SR-1 in Fort Bragg on Sunday, July 12, 2015. The collision between the bicyclist and an unknown vehicle occurred on southbound SR-1 near Boice Lane at approximately 4:19 pm. Medical personnel, California Highway Patrol and Mendocino County Sheriff’s units responded and found the 36-year-old male deceased on the right shoulder of southbound SR-1. A witness described the suspect vehicle as a red pickup truck. Following the collision, the suspect vehicle continued southbound on SR-1 and possibly may have turned onto Fern Creek Road. Vehicle debris at the scene suggests that the suspect vehicle sustained front-end damage and may have a broken headlight.

It is not known at this time whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision.

The California Highway Patrol is asking that anyone with any information regarding this incident call the CHP Ukiah Area Office at (707) 467-4040.
