[UPDATE: 7/9 Contained] Seven More Fires Pop Up on Highway 169
It looks like Cal Fire is having a busy day dealing with fires along Highway 169. After a morning of dealing with fires near Weitchpec, fire crews are responding to seven additional fires in the Pecwan area. We’ll keep updating this post as we get more information.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: According to Laura Coleman, spokesperson for Cal Fire, this incident was first spotted by a US Forest Service plane about one this afternoon. There are now ten known fires that total about nine acres. These are still under investigation but are suspicious in nature. Currently, Coleman says, there are multiple crews and engines fighting the fire. In addition, there are two tankers, air tactical, three helicopters, a private water tender, Hoopa Fire Department, and the US Forest Service. UPDATE 7:42 p.m.: Tweet from Cal Fire:

#MooreFire [final] south of Pecwan, northeast of Hoopa (Humboldt County) is now 100% contained at 10 acres.
