Scanner traffic indicates emergency crews responded to a woman who was assaulted in the head with a rock near Boyd Road and Eureka Ready Mix in the Arcata area at around 8:30 p.m. today.
A responder at the scene said over the scanner, “Victim has major head trauma.” At another point, the victim was reportedly “convulsing.”
Law enforcement officers were looking for a suspect. A dispatcher said over the scanner the assault occurred in a homeless encampment in that area.

Why is there a “do nothing” attitude towards dangerous, illegal camping that drags the whole area down economically while hard working farmers, trying to do the right thing are victimized?
Umm,it looks like it was a homeless person victimized. What a response to a brutal attack who’s only crime was not being rich enough to afford a home!It sounds like, maybe, you did it.(fieldbrooker)
